Chilliwack is located on the traditional, ancestral, and unceded territory of the Stó:lō Coast Salish peoples. CEPCO recognizes and honours the deep connection Stó:lō peoples have to this land, and the important role First Nations communities continue to play in shaping the region’s past, present, and future. More than ten First Nations are part of the broader Chilliwack community; these Nations are self-governed and make their own decisions about growth, development, and community priorities.
CEPCO and the City of Chilliwack value ongoing, respectful dialogue with neighbouring First Nations as the region plans for the future. We communicate with First Nations partners on shared opportunities and practical planning needs, including transportation, servicing, utility capacity, infrastructure coordination, and long-term community growth.
