Trouw Nutrition Canada announces plans to build a new production facility in response
to strong market demands

CHILLIWACK, B.C. (January 18, 2022) – As a global leader in innovative feed specialties,
premixes, feed additives and nutritional services for the animal feed industry, Trouw Nutrition
Canada, a subsidiary of Nutreco, announced today that they have begun building a new
production facility in Chilliwack, BC. Construction began in Fall 2021 and is expected to be
completed no later than Fall 2023.

The Fraser Valley Regional District is essential to Canadian livestock production. Local farmers
are leading the way in producing high quality meat and dairy products for Canadian and
international consumers. Trouw Nutrition Canada is dedicated to ensuring that livestock
producers in the surrounding region receive the highest quality of animal nutrition and
expertise in the market.

“Our Chilliwack facility was built in the 1960s and has been expanded and renovated many
times over the years. Our facility has continued to be recognized in having great proximity to its
loyal customer base and has held a strong reputation of innovation. As market demands have
remained steady, especially with our bulk and lifestyle business, as an organization, we are
always looking at ways to increase efficiency within our mills, through newly automated
systems and process. Our new production facility will help to increase the optimization and
consistent flow of our feed, so we can continue to meet the high demands of our customers”,
says Jared Webster, Regional Sales Manager, Trouw Nutrition Canada.

Nutreco’s vision of Feeding the Future, reflects the ambition to produce enough nutritious and
high-quality food for a growing world population in a sustainable way. Being a leader in the
transformation of how the Canadian agriculture industry operates, Trouw can continue to
guide dairy, egg, and meat farmers towards a circular agriculture system that uses land and
resources more sustainably – helping feed the growing population and at the same time
building trust between people in local farming communities and cities. With a presence in all
stages of the value chain – including operations focused on animal nutrition, sustainable
animal production, processing and distribution, Trouw Nutrition Canada offers unique insights
and reliable experience to its customers.

“Investing in a new production facility will allow us to continue to provide consistent, high quality products for all animals in a cost-effective and efficient manner. 95% of the volume
produced at this feed mill is consumed within a 50km radius of the Fraser Valley. Our
customers and prospects are continuously investing in the growth of their own businesses and
in another generation of farming. Our customers and prospects eagerly anticipate the
completion of our production facility, so that we can meet their growing feed requirements”,
says Maarten Bilj, Managing Director, Trouw Nutrition Canada.

The new plant will occupy a total area of 40000sqf, 1100 tons of structural steel and 5000m3 of
concrete. A sustainable concept is driving the project, exemplified on the new drainage system
with an underground pond that will be installed for reducing flooding for surrounding
properties. The new facility will consist of ultimate technology in food safety and quality,
applying the vertical concept of ingredient flow and distribution.

Maple Reinders, who is the prime contractor of the project plans to finish the construction by
the end of 2023. Following its completion, Trouw Nutrition will continue to build a more
sustainable future – both for the agriculture industry and for people everywhere.
